Board Report August 28, 2006

  1. Recruitment
    1. Tours – 51% of inquiries who contacted Molly toured, and 44% of those inquiries enrolled.
    2. Advertising
      1. Ads in Salt Lake Living and Salt LakeMagazine. One more contractual in Sept./Oct. issue will be a small listing of the Open House
      2. Welcome Neighbor distributed more than 300 packets this summer to new residents
    3. Minister Breakfast – invite local pastors, non-Catholic ministers to a breakfast to talk about JD
    4. Fall push – Parish outreach, Employers - HR dept., Realtors, relocation companies, School Visits – scheduling with 7th & 8th grade feeders
    5. Recruitment video –Ed Wilets to combine clips  of 2005 & 2006 Gala videos and interview kids
    6. Open House – Promote through ICNP, SL Magazine, schools, churches, libraries, realtors, etc. in Oct. 
    7. UCS Campaign – focus will be on Diocesan School brochure, a recruitment video streamed on the web, KUTV (target retention and continuation of middle school aged kids),  billboard and ICNP.
  2. Annual Appeal Campaign committee – Carol Frymire to chair. 
    1. Corporate– James Tangaro to help with Corporate solicitation
    2. Annual Appeal mailing – print & mail to parents, donors, alumni in Oct.
    3. Silent Eagle – develop prospect list using new parent employers list, work with Ron Heinz
    4. Board Appeal – Carol Frymire to lead
    5. Planned Giving – met with Jeff Shields & Cath. Found. this summer. Asking David Jansen to lead marketing
  3. Alumni Relations – Committee includes Judi Stokes, Rosie Stahla
    1. Alumni Website – Patty working with Eric on oversight
    2. Alumni Questionaire – Will send to all alumni and past students
    3. Alumni Association – Committee researching other school by-laws
    4. Alumni Gatherings – Homecoming, X-mas luncheon, Gala-Lite event, year-end breakfast in the works.
  4. Events
    1. Proposed Gala-Lite Event to come - design to be more inclusive of various audiences – more affordable for alumni, etc.  April 21.
    2. Golf Marathon – Sept, 15
    3. Concerts –Blessid Union of Souls manager (new parent) bringing concert to JD.
    4. Feast – music and hands-on workshops.  Jesse M. featured musician – he’s done Youth rallies
  5. Other Projects
    1. Grants – Carol Barman to assist in research
    2. Draper City Emergency Preparedness Communications – Attended JIC Training for PIOs, Molly on exec. board of advisory committee.  Drill to take place in Oct.
    3. H.S.A. & Boosters – new leadership in place
    4. Parent Mentor Program – Carol & Sally leading – est. 275 new parents attended multimedia orientation Aug. 25.
  6. Communications/PR – 2006-07 Theme “God is Love”  from Pope B’s encyclical
    1. Media – new coaches & staff announcements, fall team rosters to Trib., ICNP article on UCS.
    2. Newsletter – in the mail after Labor Day
    3. Website – projects in the works:
      1. Alumni site – adding job bank for networking
      2. Board section – half done.  Need Eric to do secured site programming
      3. Golf marathon info
      4. Sport schedules, rosters & tryout dates
      5. Parent Volunteer Info/Signup sheet
      6. Booster Club/H.S.A. updates
